The Register of Staff is a book held at The National Archives (Reference - OS 3/285). The book only covers civilian assistant; military personnel and labourers are not covered. There are 4546 individuals identified in the book. The National Archives dates the book as 1840-1935, however, it appears the book was started c1890 showing all staff in post at that time with new staff added until the c1934. The Register of Staff contains a wide range of information, the following has been transcribed where the information exists. Identification Number, Name, Data of Birth, Date of Joining, Age at Joining, Data of Leaving or Date of Last Entry, Reason for leaving, and reference to Entry on the RE register. The main information not transcribed are pay rates, retirement lump sum and retirement payment, and date of Civil Service Certificate. Transcribed by Clive Boocock 2021
