  Harold Thomas Jones May was born on 7 July 1914 the son of William Charles May and Edith Margaretta May (nee Williams). Harold married Winifred Olwen Thomas in Cardiff in 1938. A news article about the wedding of Harold and Winifred records Harold as Ordnance Survey staff based in London. Harold was on route to Iraq with 85th Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery when they were diverted to Singapore, he was taken prisoner after the fall of Singapore. Harold died as a Prisoner of War whilst working on the Burma Railway.
